Finca Las Laderas sits high on the slopes of Ilamatepec, El Salvador’s Santa Ana volcano, overlooking Lake Coatepeque. The 60-hectare farm has belonged to the Lima family since it was first planted in the mid-1960s. Forty hectares are dedicated to growing coffee, while the remaining land is protected natural forest, creating rich biodiversity and natural shade across the farm.
After the Ilamatepec volcano erupted in 2006, Las Laderas was covered in volcanic ash. Fernando Lima used this as an opportunity to move the farm towards organic practices and stop using chemical pesticides. Today, its mineral-rich volcanic soil helps produce beautifully sweet and distinctive coffees. The farm has since become a multiple-time Cup of Excellence finalist.
Roasted to a medium profile, this single-origin coffee delivers vibrant notes of green apple and redcurrant, balanced by a clean, fruity sweetness.
It works brilliantly as an espresso and has enough character to cut through milk, making it an excellent choice for flat whites, lattes and cappuccinos.
